This stoneware pitcher has very simple and tasteful cobalt decoration, but the piece's real beauty lies in the multiple incised lines that ring the pitcher and accentuate its form. Obviously, this excellent example of 19th century salt glazed stoneware was thrown by a master potter who wanted to show off the aesthetic qualities of the pitcher itself.
