Scarce Canaryware Child's Mug with Vertical Leaf and Vine Decoration

Circa1820: Measuring a scant 2" in height and 2 1/2" in width (including the hand applied handle), this handsome canary child's mug covered in vertical hand painted decoration is a rare find indeed. Condition is excellent with one short and tight hairline at the rim and a bit of glaze loss on the bottom of the mug. These mugs were heavily and not so gently used, and most child's canaryware was broken by their youthful and and exuberant owners. We are lucky to have this early 19th century child's mug to offer in such nice shape!
