Historical Staffordshire: Baltimore and Ohio Railroadcirca 1828 | Enoch Wood and Sons, 1819-1846 In Historical Staffordshire: American Patriots and Views, Jeffrey B. Snyder asserts that "this tiny engine in the print was developed by George Stephenson in 1825 and was never used in America. R.T. Hines Halsey suggests this print was produced to commemorate the laying of the first rail of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad on July 4, 1828 and was produced prior to the event or at that time. This would explain the presence of an engiine that never ran American rails." |
