Circa 1875-1895 | Amazing Artist's Paint Box, Fully Decorated

Measuring 15 3/4" wide, 5 1/2" tall, 9 1/2" deep and found in the heart of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, this late 19th century artisian's paint box is patriotic American folk art at its finest. Every surface outside is decorated with delicate patterns and gold horses and ornamentation. The artist even used one of his old paint palletes covered in greens and browns and reds to construct the bottom of the box! Note, too, the beautiful late 19th century robin's egg blue interior. However, the outstandingly naive folk art rendition on the box's inside lid -- Daniel Boone fighting off a bear with the butt of his rifle --vaults this whimsical art supply box into a musuem quality piece of patriotic Americana.
