1910 Flanders Model 20 Three Color LithographRare Early Antique Automobile Advertising Size: 26" X 20" Provenance on the back of this lithograph indicates that "the original owner" of this piece "was Mr. C. W. Holl of Medaryville, Indiana" who "was the agent for the Flanders auto." Charles W. Holl was born in Germany in 1881 and emigrated to the United States with his parents Fritz and Martha in 1884. Charles owned Holl Hardware in Medaryville, Indiana, and one of the things the store sold was early automobiles. It is very likely that this lithograph hung on the hardware store wall. Note the two screw holes on the top and bottom of the picture frame.
Regardless of rarity and provenance, this lithograph is gorgeous. The three color automobile pops on its black and white background. The background itself depicts a Tudor style country club complete with golfers and an American flag. We also see a couple out for a drive in their Model 20 Runabout. This is a fabulous piece of early automotive history.
