Lafayette at Franklin's Tomb Coffeepot

Circa 1820s: When Revolutionary War hero General Marquis de Lafayette landed on American shores in 1824 for his two year victory tour of the United States, he became wildy popular with our nation's citizens, and even the English potteries produced wares bearing the French genaral's image for the American market. One of the more famous American historical Staffordshire views depicts the Lafayette in repose at Ben Franklin's tomb at Christ Church Burial Ground in Philadelphia. This elegant coffeepot measures 11" tall and is in superb condition with only very minor typical wear on the spout and the lid's finial and no other chips, cracks, or repairs. Historical Stafforshire coffeepots are extremely difficult to find in this condition, and that makes this example a rarity.
